In the past month have viewed Ah my Goddess Volume 1 and the just released (in US) volume 2. If you were a fan of Chobits, you will like this series. Belldandy (the goddess) and Chi-chan share many properties. Naive about the world, odd for a goddess, but posessed of a spirit and personality very endearing. Both series are very clean and wholesome. In a sense AMG picks up where Chobits ends, the male lead has just gotten into college and is in the middle of his first year when Belldandy appears (literally out of thin air!) Where volume 2 picks up is about 4 months later when (SPOILER) his younger sister shows up and Belldandy's older sister Urd also comes to visit. For a Goddess, Urd is surprisingly devilish, she adds spice to the basic love story. Mr. Motsura, the blessed guy, is a typicial nerd with no luck with the women. It's a bit of a strech that after living for months with the extreamly cute Belldandy, he still can't bring himself to kiss her. Urd tries to help him with his hang ups. Ah My Goddess is based on Norse mythology, (vikings), so though they have angel wings, they are not the chaste angles of King James. It is surprising the Japanese did such a good job with such foreign ideas. The antimation is of the same quality as Chobits, that is excelent artwork but needing more frames per sec to smooth out the action. The theme songs sounds like they DID come from a angle! I could listen to those songs all day. I am greatly looking forward to Vol 3 January 31 2006. The Japanese TV series has been renewed for 2006, it's second year. Perhaps this means there will be a vol 4 and 5. One thing I am confused about, I've read that 'OH' my Goddess appeard as a TV series in the mid 1990s; so is 'AH' my Goddess a re-mix or a re-make?
